Freedom

You'll hear me talk a lot about Freedom this year, it's my one little word for 2018. Last year my word was Shine and I feel like that word encompassed everything for me. FREEDOM. One word that seems to mean so much and can mean something different to everyone, right?

What does the word Freedom mean to you? ​​I think for me, it means several different things as of right now - I'm excited to see how that might evolve as the year progresses. I want freedom in our home from the expectations that we place on ourselves and what society says we should do, I want financial freedom, freedom to travel, freedom to say a BIG FAT YES to the things our heart wants to do and a firm NO to the things that do not fill our cup or bring us joy. One thing about choosing a word for the year is that I see it everywhere and it's like it's talking to me, it's guiding me, it's giving me signs. This morning we went to an appointment with a local Sifu (teacher of Kung Fu) about joining their club. I have said I'm going to start training there for almost 10 years now, and a couple weeks ago I decided it was time. I needed it. My girls needed it. Our household needed it. So, I have to admit, a little nervously, the girls and I went to meet with him today and I know that it was timed perfectl​y in our life because everything felt like it clicked... after an hour of chatting and getting to know each other a little bit we got ready to leave and he handed me the enrollment forms... right there, at the tip top.... there it was. My word.

IN DISCIPLINE LIES FREEDOM. Yes! All the Yes! I knew the arts of KungFu would come back to me at a time when I needed it the most. A time when I was ready to stand back into that part of me, that part of my life... and so, here it is. Warrior Mary is back and she's here to claim freedom again! Watch out world, there's three Fast girls who are ready to change the world... in the only way possible. From the inside.
